Search Engine Optimization (SEO): An Intelligent Solution

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is big business. Countless companies now offer the service, and prices vary tremendously, ranging from a few dollars to more than $10,000. The claims that companies make vary widely as well: "Get a #1 Google Ranking--Only $29" reads one banner ad.

The truth is, search engine rankings are much fairer than they once were. When search engines were first invented, getting a #1 ranking was as simple as having a certain word repeated a million times in your web page. As soon as a competitor placed the word a million-and-one times, the #1 ranking was lost.

Now, Google and others rank pages based on their "relevance" to the web. Google's exact formula is proprietary, but they do provide vague insight into the process. The major search engines also provide a set of guidelines and actions that a webmaster can take to enhance his/her site's searchability.

Top Shelf Design has utilized these tools in addition to a set of techniques that we have developed on our own site. The results have been outstanding (try searching for "top shelf design" or "dc graphic design" on Google).

We would now like to offer our set of techniques to our clients. While we cannot guarantee a specific ranking on a search engine, your site will be compliant with many of the suggestions that Google and Yahoo! make with regards to optimization. To learn more about our SEO services, click here.
